TQ Industries is a second generation family company who manufacturers and markets its products under the two names: Tecni-Quip and Clean Cycle Systems. Tecni-Quip was started in the early 1960's as an engineering and fabrication company in Paramount, CA. Within ten years Tecni-Quip established itself as the premier supplier of high quality aluminum hospital carts. Tecni-Quip now produces many types of standard and custom carts made of various materials as well as vinyl cart covers for the Health Care and Hospitality Industries. Jane Reynolds met Charles Clement during WWII while she was serving with the Civil Service in Panama, where Charles was a Captain in the Army. In 1947 Charles and Jane were married at Randolph Air Force Base and moved to Charles' home town of San Angelo after the war. In 1950, with $20 in their pocket, they moved to the Los Angeles area where Charles attended school and earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He took job as head engineer for Wing Aircraft of Torrence, California designing performance aircraft. Charles left the aircraft business and worked several years for Neushall Carts, a company using surplus aluminum from the war to make carts for airline material handling when he and Jane decided to start their own business, Tecni-Quip. They sold their home and all their assets to get their start and were blessed with daughter Jo Beth just after starting their own manufacturing business making animal testing cages and airline carts. Tecni-Quip got a jump start in 1964 when Providence St. Joseph's Hospital in California asked Charles to design and build a linen cart to replace the wood crates with wheels that they had been using. With the help of Sisters who used the carts, a cart was designed and manufactured that was such a hit that other hospitals in the Los Angeles area started placing orders. 1966 was a benchmark year when the L-66, the first enclosed linen cart ever built, was invented by Charles and is still a best seller. Jane, who really took advantage of an opportunity in the 1970's while seated next to the president of American Hospital Supply on a flight to tell him about the Tecni-Quip carts. Promptly, American Hospital Supply added the Tecni-Quip linen carts to their catalog. This helped expand Tecni-Quip from a west-coast company to a national prestige with sales to hospitals all over the United States. Charles began producing lint filters in 1975 when a customer expressed a need. He re-engineered the lint filter to make a more efficient and his design is still the industry standard today. Clean Cycle Systems was established in 1986 as a division under Tecni-Quip to manufacture and market industrial filtration equipment to commercial and industrial laundry/textile processors. Clean Cycle remains a leader in lint filtering systems for this industry. Mike Reilly met Jo Beth Clement at The Clean Show 1991 trade show and married in 1992. Jo Beth had been working for the company since graduating from Peperdine University. Mike joined the company bringing with him an engineering degree from Purdue University and experience working for Jensen of Denmark Laundry & Textile Machines. Charles still comes in and checks on the business regularly but Mike and Jo Beth have taken over the day-to-day operations. The company was renamed TQ Industries after moving from Los Angeles, California to Seguin, Texas (30 miles east of San Antonio, TX.) making Tecni-Quip and Clean Cycle divisions of TQ Industries. The relocation was made to best position TQ Industries for future growth. TQ Industries sells direct to end users and through distributors with an active user list of over 2000 customers worldwide and currently holds supplier contracts with several national health care and hotel buying groups. Although we have over 30 employees and our products are sold all over the United States, we remain an old fashioned, family company with family values.
